2nd Headshot of artist, P. LaRose

P. LaRose is an educator, advocate, and visual storyteller. Gender, race, sexuality, and politics are explored in her simplified realism style.

P. gravitated to art from the age she could hold a pen. Her favorite artists include the great Frida Kahlo, Emil Nolde, Kehinde Wiley, Ernie Barnes, and Jean Michel Basquiat.  A Pisces' artistic expression and dreamy imagination developed into a self-care mechanism. The paintbrush continues to be —LaRose's therapy tool. P. LaRose's goal is to make artistic time capsules that give you warm, nostalgic feels.

P. earned a bachelor's degree in social work with double minors in urban youth and communities, as well as women and gender studies, from UNC Charlotte. After graduating, she undertook a tattoo apprenticeship before moving from NC to CA. She pursued further studies in education, achieving a master's degree in special education from Loyola Marymount University. Currently, P. serves as a client advocate at a public defender's office in LA, focusing on individuals involved with the criminal "justice" system. Her goal is to disrupt the school-to-prison pipeline by exploring alternatives to incarceration.
